Pillu was a personal project that I later developed into a college class project. For a packaging class, we focused on both the graphics/ visuals and the form and functionality of packaging, offering a comprehensive understanding. This project aims to create an ergonomic experience for the customer while standing out on market shelves with its aesthetic appeal.
Packaging Design, Visual Identity, Ergonomics
Redesigning cat treat packaging to improve comfort and efficiency for pet owners during feeding.

The Doypack Dilemma
The full-width seal leads to poor portion control, causing treats to spill out.
Recommended serving size is 5–8 pieces, given one at a time to the cat; however, the current design disrupts the intended user experience.

Retrieving a single treat requires reaching into the pouch, leaving the hand smelling like cat food — an unpleasant user experience.

The flexible plastic-aluminum material lacks rigidity, causing treats to break during transit
Cat treats found in the market come in pouches or a Doypack. These are sealable pouches, and for a pet owner to access the treats, the top seal needs to be removed and can be resealed by a ziplock mechanism.

The Dispenser Advantage
Pillu's redesigned form features a foldable side dispenser, allowing treats to be collected in smaller amounts and dispensed to the cat.

creating a playful yet legible logo, keeping in mind the friendly and child-like nature surrounding owning pets. Using fonts Chinchilla and Swung Note as inspiration for the design. Using a Cat eye as the symbol for the brand to be associated with cats.

An analogous color palette with green as the primary color to reflect the organic and natural nature of the product. To highlight the flavor, blue is used for mackerel, and pink is used for carrots instead of orange to maintain a harmonious and soft/pastel color palette.
